Volunteers looking for a hands on experience with flexible hours and availability will enjoy helping us out in The ReBuilding Center. Common tasks include: unloading donation carts and trucks, sorting and organizing donated material and de-nailing lumber. Ongoing tasks like these along with various special projects that are often available, there is always some you can help!
For volunteers looking for a structured and ongoing experience with Our United Villages, let us know on your application! Volunteer Leaders are individuals that would like to work on their leadership skills and add a level of mentor ship to their time with us. Our Community Legacy Program and Volunteer Program always have projects that are in need of volunteers with special skill sets.

A few things to keep in mind about volunteering at The ReBuilding Center of Our United Villages:
- Always wear closed-toed shoes. Work boots are great; steel-toed shoes are best.
- Wear plain, logo-less clothes that you don’t mind messing up. Plan on getting dirty.
- Wear your name tag! We like to call our volunteers by their names.
- Bring your work gloves! (We have extras, but it’s nice to wear your own.)
- Bring a water bottle (especially in the summer). You’ll be glad.
- Our warehouse is not climate controlled so expect it to be as warm or cold inside as it is outside.
Trade Show and Event Volunteers
Trade show volunteers table at local events such as the Home and Garden Shows, Build Remodel Landscape Show, Earth Day events, etc. Helping at these events allows The ReBuilding Center to connect with new community members who may not be familiar with The ReBuilding Center and all of the services we offer. Training is provided.
Becoming a Volunteer Leader is a great to meet new people while working on your leadership and mentoring skills. It also looks great on a resume! Volunteer Leaders help our newer volunteers along in a variety of tasks around the organization. Volunteer Leaders in The ReBuilding Center work in shifts in order to help manage the work flow on any given day. By helping our supply stations remain stocked and organized, VLs also play a key role in safety.
We ask that those interested in becoming a Volunteer Leader be available for at least 2 shifts per week. Shifts are normally about 3 hours long. New Volunteer Leaders will be provided with an additional training in conjunction with an orientation. Help our community grow and flourish by taking on the role of a leader!
