Two Homes Saved For ReUse

DeConstruction Services is in the middle of taking down two whole houses and one detached garage at SE Alder and 20th Ave. These homes, built in 1891 and 1924, are producing racks and racks of amazing lumber. You can find volunteers de-nailing it daily in the ReBuilding Center lumber yard.

The location is the future home of Buckman Court Apartments being built by Creston Homes, LLC. Another deconstruction project is in the works with Creston Homes, LLC. to take down an old building on E Burnside. Thank you Creston Homes, LLC. for your commitment to saving these buildings from the landfill!

  • 1.Can I find 2 x 4 x 8's there? I plan to put in some shelving in our garage.

  • 2.We have a lumber yard full of dimensional lumber as well as siding, trim, flooring and more. We also have shelving and used cabinets that are perfect for a garage or shop.

Since our inventory is all donated and changes every 15 min, you can always call The ReBuilding Center at 503.331.1877 and ask if we have something in stock.

  • 3.I have been trying to track down the garage doors on the blue/green house. I called the re-building center and they told me to call the deconstruction fellow. When I called him, he said to call the re-building center. I went by the rebuilding center and they sent me to a lot at cook and albina but nothing was there. Any clue on what happened to them??

  • 5.Unfortunately the doors were not in reusable condition due to severe rotting and structural damage and were recycled.

  • 6.Between the 2 houses could there have been as much as 3,000 square feet of wood flooring to repurpose? We are putting hard flooring in a community center so that we can use it as a warming center / food distribution site and would like to use repurposed wood & support your work as well.
