This is a TWO-DAY cohort-style class, and has the same start and end times on BOTH days:
- Thursday, August 5th (5:30 - 8:30PM)
- Thursday, August 12th (5:30 - 8:30PM)
In this two-part Wall Framing intensive, you'll learn fundamental framing skills and code-related know-how for your dream project, such as a shed, tiny house, or maybe a woodshop of your own!
On day one, you'll learn how to measure, lay out, and assemble wall framing through a mixture of lecture, discussion, and hands-on practice. We'll also discuss how to tie your new skills in to other stages of construction, both before and after wall framing.
On day two, our small cohort will build a structure! In groups of two or three, you'll frame up a true-to-code wall with either a window or a doorway, raise it up vertical and fasten it at the corners with other student's walls. We'll be sure to talk about fastening to both concrete and wood foundations, tips and best practices for framing for doors and windows, and so much more.
Cost: $145

FAQs
When and where to arrive? Arrive 5-10 minutes before class to settle in and be ready to go! Come in through our administrative entrance across from StormBreaker Brewing — look for the “Classes” sign set out on the sidewalk with an arrow pointing to the red door. Once inside, go straight through the conference room, turn right, and walk down the hall to the Shop (there will be signs to direct you).
How about public transportation/parking options? The ReBuilding Center address is 3625 N. Mississippi Avenue, Portland, and there is a #4 bus stop nearby. The Yellow Max Line (Overlook Park stop) is about a 15-minute walk away. There’s also parking available on the surrounding streets. Depending on your class, please consider that you may have a large project piece that you might need to carry home on public transportation.
