Open Shop

New Shifts ADDED Monthly

Come work on your carpentry projects in our Education Shop during Open Shop hours! Our space is designed to empower you to work on your own with access to a variety of tools for a 3-hour session. While a Shop Steward will be present to answer questions, please note they are not available to assist with your projects; the responsibility for your work rests solely with you.

You are welcome to attend Open Shop if you have either taken one of our Intro to Carpentry classes or have experience and familiarity with shop tools and safety protocols. Maker & Community Members receive complimentary access, in addition to store & classes discounts, free delivery & pick-up, and other ReBuilding Center perks.

Please email us at education@rebuildingcenter.org if you have questions about project plans, storing materials, or anything else related to Open Shop.

Please be aware that materials and fasteners (e.g., screws and nails) are not included in the Open Shop fee. However, you'll have access to an extensive array of tools, including:

● Miter/chop saws

● SawStop table saw*

● Circular saws

● Bandsaws

● Drill press

● Planer*

● Jointer*

● Belt sander

● Mid-sized and trim routers

● Drills and drivers

● Various screwdriver bits (e.g., philips, star, pozi, and flat)

● Orbital sanders

● Kreg jig

● General shop tools like speed squares and measuring tapes

For your safety and convenience, our workshop space features dust collection systems and a downdraft table for sanding. While masks are recommended to prevent inhalation of sawdust, safety glasses and hearing protection are mandatory. We do not allow gloves for use with any of our power tools.
