CLASS DESCRIPTION
Learn basic electrical skills and build or fix lamp to take home! Class will start by taking apart lamps provided in class to learn how all the pieces fit together. Next, students can choose one of two options:
1) choose from reclaimed wood and electrical parts to create their own lamp,
- or -
2) students may bring in their own broken table lamps* for help with troubleshooting and repair.
Students will be given basic bulbs to take home as part of their lamp, but decorative or specialty bulbs (like the one in the picture below) are BYOB: Bring Your Own Bulb.
Topics covered:
The basics of electrical theory
Safety when working with electricity
Using wire stripping tools effectively
The parts and techniques necessary to rewire a lamp
Inspiration for how to create lamps out of other types of materials
(*Please bring table lamps only. This class is not intended to repair floor lamps, ceiling lights, or wall-mounted light fixtures.)
Skill level: This class is ideal for beginners ages 18 and over
Class Schedule: Class will run for 3 hours and no breaks are planned
