Due to concern about rising COVID-19 rates, this class has been postponed and new date has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 22.
COVID-19 VACCINATION & MASKING REQUIREMENTS
Starting January 1, 2022, all students participating in in-person classes at the ReBuilding Center Education Shop will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test performed within the prior 72 hours. Check out our FAQs & Safety Guidelines for more details.
In addition, masks are required for all students, staff, and volunteers per guidelines announced by the Oregon Health Authority on August 11. Please note: safety glasses are required in most of our classes and wearing a mask with a wire nosepiece will help reduce fogging.
See below for additional health and safety precautions.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
We’re meeting at the intersection of mosaic and collage in this all-level art workshop. Using a small panel (between 4” - 10”) or a picture frame as a backdrop, you will choose from an imagination-tickling array of reclaimed objects — hardware, ceramic bits, glass and mirror, toy parts, baubles, beads, and who knows what else! — to create your work of art. Learn how to use a quick-drying adhesive and explore how to make your own one-step mosaics at home.
Don't have an art background or feel “creatively challenged”? No worries! The materials and the supportive atmosphere will have you relaxed and experimenting in no time. All materials will be provided, though you are welcome to bring a small collection of your own found treasures if you'd like. You may never look at your junk drawer the same way again!
This is a project-based class and you’ll come away with a handmade piece to gift or keep.
Topics covered:
New ways to look at and use found objects
Safe ways to cut or break glass pieces
Arranging and spacing your tile bits into a design
Using silicone adhesive
Cost: $70
ReBuilding Center offers two half-price scholarships for every class:
A BIPOC Scholarship for all BIPOC community members interested in taking a class with us
A Need-based Scholarship for all community members whose income is less than $35,000/year for an individual or $70,000 for a two-earner household
Skill level: This class is designed for beginners ages 18 and over; no art background is required.
Maximum size of class: 14 students
Class Schedule: Class will run for three (3) hours. No breaks are planned, but you are encouraged to bring a snack and water.
