Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) are an important safety feature in your home! Required by building code to be on circuits near water such as in bathrooms and kitchens. They can also be retrofitted in older homes to add extra safety.
This is a skills-based class where you will learn how to use tools with a mix of hands-on tasks and demonstrations, but you will not build a project to take home.
Topics covered:
Basic Theory: How GFCIs work and why they’re so important
Where they are required in new construction, and where they’re recommended for existing, older homes
How to identify the beginning of a circuit
How to identify Line vs. Load conductors
Replacing a standard receptacle with a GFCI
Testing GFCIs
