CLASS DESCRIPTION

Take the first step in understanding your home electrical system! This class will introduce you to the basics, and you will come away with an essential understanding of how your home’s electrical system works and how to do simple troubleshooting and repairs.

Topics covered: 

  • How to be safe when working with electricity

  • How circuits work

  • How to map your house

  • What kind of electrical wires you’re likely to have in your home and what the colors mean

  • The difference between volts, amps, and watts and why that matters

  • Hands on practice on how to replace outlets

  • Much more!

Skill level: This class is great for beginners ages 18 and over as well as 16 and 17 year-olds with parent or guardian permission.

Special note: This class covers the fundamentals and will be required for anyone taking future Intermediate Electrical classes at the ReBuilding Center

Class schedule: Class will run for 3 hours with no break planned
