Leaky faucets, running toilets, dripping drains... these things happen all the time and can waste water, waste money, and cause damage. Learn how to identify and fix common plumbing problems without having to hire a plumber.
Toilets and plumbing fixture links are one of the most common places for water leaks in a home, and over time a small leak can waste thousands of gallons and hundreds of dollars. Fortunately, repairing leaks is often simple and quick, and we’ll show you how. Also, if you have an older toilet (from 1995 or before) you might be wasting 2-5 gallons per flush. We’ll walk you through removing an old toilet and show you replace it with a newer efficient one.
This is a skills-based class where you will learn how to use tools and make repairs, but you will not build a project to take home.
Water-saving kits for each student are generously provided by the Portland Water Bureau.

Though no water will be flowing, in this hands-on class you will learn:
Understanding your water meter
Identifying and fixing common leaks
How to use several water conservation devices
Bathroom faucets and supply lines
Simple ways to clear drain clogs
How to change a showerhead
Toilet basics
How to locate and repair common leaks
How to clear clogs
How to remove and replace a toilet
How to take advantage of rebates and incentives from Portland Water Bureau
Skill level: This class is ideal for beginners ages 18 and over as well as 16 and 17 year-olds with parent or guardian permission.
Class Schedule: Class will run for 3 hours and no breaks are planned.
